Welcome to the official website of the West Virginia Chapter of the International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR).   This website will provide you with information regarding members of the Board of Directors as well as important events occurring in West Virginia and throughout the United States. Your comments and suggestions are welcomed and should be directed to the webmaster.

The West Virginia Chapter of IPMA-HR consists of members in all aspects of the Human Resources field including Recruitment, Labor Relations, Benefits' Administration, Classification, Testing, Staff Development and Affirmative Action.  The Chapter was started in 1974as part of the Eastern Region of IPMA-HR.

It is the mission of the Chapter to: provide a forum for persons engaged in or affiliated with public human resource administration to discuss their current issues and to provide a medium for mutual self-improvement through programs and interaction with colleagues; explain and interpret the objectives and methods of public human resource administration to the general public, civic groups, public officials and public employees; and encourage and facilitate cooperative action among public jurisdictions and private employers within the Chapter area on human resource issues of mutual interest.

ABOUT THE CHAPTER

The West Virginia Chapter is a component of the Eastern Region, International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR).  The Eastern Region consists of:  Connecticut; Delaware; Maine; Maryland; Massachusetts; New Hampshire; New Jersey; New York; Pennsylvania; Puerto Rico: Rhode Island; Vermont; Virgin Islands; and West Virginia.  The Chapter and Eastern Region are components of the International Public Management Association for Human Resources, United States.

The Chapter’s fiscal/program year runs from July 1st of each year. Terms of office for elected officials run concurrently with the program year. The Board of Directors consists of four officers (President, President-Elect, Secretary and Treasurer) and three Board Members. The immediate Past-President serves in an ex-officio (non-voting) capacity. 

Chairs of standing committees are appointed at the beginning of each program year. Standing committees include Newsletter/Publicity, Program, Membership, Social, Nominating, and Auditing.  Ad hoc committees (e.g., Bylaw) that are deemed necessary may be appointed by the Board.

The Chapter holds program meetings between and including the months of September and May.  Social events that provide networking opportunities are also typically held in December and during the summer.

The Chapter’s Training and Development Conference is held annually except when the chapter sponsors the Eastern Region Conference.
